Promoting Student Success

Love Schools
Love Schools is now a part of the Wichita Public Schools Foundation. We are committed now more than ever to connecting the community to the classroom because our schools are only as strong as the community supporting them. We believe in the power of community; we love our schools, and we hope you do too.
Using a one size fits one approach, we meet each school where they are and walk alongside them to reach their goals. Love Schools is currently a program in 14 elementary schools and 1 middle schools.
Love Schools meets with school leaders, who share their needs and goals, and then our staff go into the community to find a financial partner, making a gift of at least $10,000, and 3-5 community partners sharing their time and talents. Then, they work together all year long to achieve their goals and walk alongside school staff and students.

Tommy's Fund
Started more than 30 years ago by Tom Guild, a former WPS student, who became an attorney, and professor of law in Oklahoma, Tommy’s Fund exists to support students with basic needs, including clothing, shoes, and other household supplies.
A program that started at Payne Elementary, has now expanded to all Wichita elementary schools, Tommy’s Fund ensures all students have the tools they need to thrive.

Credentials for Careers
Wichita Public Schools is committed to every high school student graduating future ready – for college or a career. And the WPS Foundation is committed to supporting all students, providing them with the tools they need to be successful in whatever they do after high school.
Wichita Public Schools provides students with hands-on, multi-year programs that integrate academic and occupational knowledge to prepare them for post-secondary education and high-demand careers in various fields like Business, Digital Media, Engineering, Healthcare, and more.
The Wichita Public Schools Foundation supports these initiatives by covering the cost of credential fees – more than 2,700 during the 24-25 school year alone. Learn more about how the WPS Foundation is supporting Career and Technical Education.

Early College Academy
College is expensive, and we are here to help.
The Wichita Public Schools Foundation covers all costs for students in the Early College Academy at Northwest High School to earn up to 57 college credits by the time the graduate. Essentially providing them with two years of college, and a high school diploma at the same time.

Extra-curricular Funding for Fine Arts, Athletics, and Clubs
Our commitment to ensuring a students outcome isn’t determined by their family income extends to supporting extra-curricular activities. We provide funding to purchase instruments and other art supplies, alleviating the burden for families, as well as support VEX Robotics throughout area middle schools.
We believe extra-curricular activities create a well-rounded student, who becomes our future leaders, and Wichita’s future workforce.
